Our Story

Living Word was formed in 1998 by Dr. Paul Buesnel. He started the church as a home group in his living room. They soon rented a building in Silverdale to house this growing church. In the year 2000 they were able to purchase our current building at 3475 NW Carlton Street in Old Town Silverdale. The sanctuary was remodeled and sound equipment was purchased and they began holding services there 30 days later. Pastor Paul Buesnel left at the end of 2001 to follow God's calling in his life.
Tim Skolrud was hired by the church and his first Sunday was Easter of 2002. We were averaging about 50-60 people when he arrived. In February of 2005 we added a Saturday night service to make additional room for our growing church. Then in 2008 we added our third weekend services. This gave us one service on Saturday night at 7pm and two services on Sunday, one at 9:30 and the other at 11am. That gave us four intimate gatherings in two locations.

In September of 2011 we merged with CrossPoint Church in Port Orchard.  This gave us a second campus only 17 miles from Silverdale.  It was a facility on 4+ acres with three separate buildings.  A main sanctuary, a second building that is used as a sanctuary/fellowship hall.  The third building is a 1350sq ft. home that is used as staff housing.  So we spend 6 months renovating the main sanctuary and started Sunday night services on Easter in 2012.

Now in 2017 we continue to run 2 gatherings in Silverdale and one in Port Orchard at 4pm on Sunday.  All three gatherings are currently led by our Pastor, Tim Skolrud.
