What to expect.

What to expect.

When you visit a new church, you feel a mix of emotions: excitement, curiosity, maybe even nervousness. Your mind floods with questions like: What should I wear? Where do my kids go? Where are the bathrooms? How will the congregation respond if my baby starts crying in the middle of the service?

We’ve all been there, and here at Living Word, we want you to be completely comfortable when you visit.  If you happen to have found our site before coming to a gathering, take a moment to get some answers to some of the questions you might have.

Who is Living Word Christian Center for?

Anyone and everyone. Living Word is a place where it’s ok to not be ok–we want people from all walks of life to have a place where they feel loved by Christ and His people.  We like to think of ourselves as a Spiritual Hospital where people can come and learn about Jesus as they heal from the hurts of this life.

What should I wear to Church?

Clothes, period. As long as your body is covered, you’ll fit in just fine.  We will not judge you by your dress, appearance or personal preferences–wear whatever is comfortable to you.

What is the gathering like?

We begin our gathering with a time of singing and worship, followed by a biblically-based message from our pastor. At Living Word you might hear some people singling loudly, others, praying softly, or a group of worshippers standing in reverence or remaining in their seats, quietly observing. We love and accept them all. At Living Word, we want to give people the freedom to respond to God in their own personal way.  We always have the coffee on, so feel free to grab a cup and bring it to your seat with you.

What is the music like?

Our worship band usually consists of guitars (electric, acoustic and bass), a keyboard, drums, all backing up the voices of multiple singers. We try to stick with songs that have meaningful lyrics, but are still easy to learn and follow along with. The words to the song will be on the screen in front and we would love for you to sing with us.  Most of our worship is contemporary songs that you might have heard before.

Will I be asked for money?

We prefer that our visitors keep their money in their pockets unless they feel moved to give. We do take up an offering to help pay bills and maintain the facilities, but you are under no obligation or expectation to give. If you like us and decide to make us your church home, then we do encourage giving to God and His church so we can continue reaching others.

What about my kids?

You are always free to keep your children with you during the service if you prefer; however, we do offer an exciting children’s program during the Sunday church gatherings. We have something to fit all children ages 0-12. We strive to keep a safe, fun, and Christ filled environment for teaching and encouraging children.  We currently do not offer Kids church during our Saturday gathering, but we hope to offer it soon!
