CrossPoint Update.

I thought I would give everyone an update on our New Church in Port Orchard. We had a great workday on Memorial Day. We had about 50 people show up to give a helping hand. We had so many people wanting to help, I had to spend the day just giving out job assignments and driving to the store to buy more paint. About 80 – 90 percent of the exterior painting was completed. We were able to remove about 90 percent of the building carpet. We did not even expect to start ripping out carpet for a few weeks but with such a good turnout it was almost completed. All three kitchens were cleaned and most of the chairs and misc. furniture in the building was moved to the balcony.
We have had a few more small workdays since then and we are about a month ahead of schedule now! In fact I ordered the new chairs for both Silverdale and Port Orchard today. In a week or two we will be ordering the new doors and windows.
Our next major work day will be September 24th. Projects for that day will include removing the platform carpet and hauling the carpet to the transfer station. We also hope to remove the basement wall to repair some water damage. If we have a good turnout we should be able to get the majority of the pre-painting prep work done. Then we will start priming and painting the interior.
Here is another side benefit of all your work. We are seeing some numerical and financial growth happening at CrossPoint church! All your work has given the church a reason to hope for a bright future. We have been able to give them the boost that they have needed. This was accomplished before we have even legally joined together as one church. They are a great group of people and we are excited to have them join Living Word.
Effective on October 1st, CrossPoint Church will become Living Word Port Orchard. They will continue to run their regular 10am Sunday service. We are going to call it Living Word Traditions. I have been working on some signage ideas so they can be properly “branded” in October.
On Friday, September 16th we will be joining with our new congregation in Port Orchard for our Young at Heart dinner. It will be our way to serve them a great meal and welcome them as part of the Living Word Family.
